It's dark
when I entered.
The first thing I noticed
was the warmth of your gaze
- something I hope I did not imagine.
I sat down,
the warmth penetrating my skin.
We were miles apart,
we never spoke,
it was an agreement
- something I wish
existed in real life.
I lie waiting
time speeds up fast
if I could bathe in your proximity
if I could smile at your departing back
if I could reach out to you
- even without your touch
I'd give up
the things I'm accustomed to have.
As I lie there waiting,
afraid that time would blow the whistle,
jolt me back into the word
where we don't co-exist.
